Procedure
At Prolase Medispa Chemical peel treatment involves applying acids of different types and strengths to the skin with the purpose of chemical exfoliation.
As a result of the Chemical peel treatment the upper layer of the skin that mostly consists of old and dead skin cells sloughs, while the new collagen and elastin cells are being produced, resulting in fresher, brighter and younger looking skin.
Recovery
Light chemical peel: requires no downtime. Even though the skin might feel irritated, most of the patients are able to return to their daily activities. Minor skin peeling may occur on day 3.
Medium chemical peel: usually requires 3-7 days for the peeling process to complete. In 7 days the skin will be fully healed and recovered.
Deep chemical peel: requires 7-10 days for the new skin to appear. The whole healing process may take up to 2 weeks. Some patients may be recommended to take a few days off work.
Risks and Aftercare
If performed by an experienced specialist the chemical peels are safe. After light or medium peel such mild side effects as redness, swelling, stinging and crusting usually resolve within 48 hours.
After deep chemical peel side effects usually last longer. More serious side effects, such as infection and scarring are possible, especially if aftercare instructions are not followed properly.
It is important to provide your service provider with a complete medical history.
With history of Herpes or cold sores, take oral anti-viral medication for 2 days before and 3 days after.
Post procedure clean your face with clear water and apply a special moisturizer or recovery cream at least 3 times a day.

Accutane and other oral acne medications within 6 months
Active skin infection, disease or open wounds
Certain medications within 5 days before/after (Retin-A, Ziana, Renova, Trentinoin, Tazorac, Epi-Duo, Differin, and Avage)
Easy scarring and keloids
History of heart problems
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Recent sunburn
Rosacea
